Nature and character
The Bolonka Zwetna is a lively and cheerful dog with a balanced nature. As a family dog he is playful and curious, learns quickly and is passionate about everything new. Thanks to his straightforward nature and his willingness to learn, education is often easy, and the Bolonka Zwetna easily adapts to the life and habits of its owner. He wants to be recognized as a full family member and seeks the constant contact with his people, but behaves unobtrusive in the family environment. The Bolonka Zwetna, with appropriate socialization, copes well with children and is also open to other pets and foreign dogs.
Despite his lively temper, the Bolonka Zwetna proves to be an extremely affectionate companion to his owner or family. Origin & History
The origin of the Bolonka Zwetna goes back far into history, to the Russian tsarist houses. Here, small dogs were very popular as gifts and company for the ladies at the court, and so first came the "Bolonka franzuskaya", which came from the Bichon frisé.
The Bolonka Zwetna, as we know it today, was bred from 1951 by Russian hunting clubs in Leningrad. The aim was to create a national dwarf breed, which should be characterized by a small size and a lush monochrome coat. In addition to the French Bichon ancestors include the Lhasa Apso, the Shih Tzu and the Toy Poodle. The first breed standard for the Bolonka Zwetna was established in 1964 and confirmed in 1966 by the Soviet Ministry of Agriculture. In Germany, however, a variety of Bolonka Zwetna, the German Bolonka, was bred for a long time, which originally deviated in several points from the Russian breed standard. He was on the one hand much smaller and also allowed a high proportion of whiteness in the coat, in contrast to the Russian type.
Activities with the Bolonka Zwetna
The Bolonka Zwetna was bred from the beginning as a companion and companion dog, convinced by his intelligence and comprehension, but also by his cheerful and affectionate nature. In addition to its role as a companion dog, the Bolonka Zwetna today is particularly popular as a family dog. However, he needs an active family connection and is reluctant to be alone. However, with the right education and some practice, the Bolonka Zwetna can get used to spending several hours alone.
